Four important reasons to use
Scorpion Racing Products valve springs:
- Material: We use only the world's finest valve spring material with high alloy content of Silicon, Nickel and Vanadium. All the wire used is called Superclean. This means it is processed so that any inclusions that can cause spring failures are minimized.
- Quality Inspection: The wire is specially inspected with double eddy current testing that looks for defects on the surface of the wire. Increased inspection levels ensure the metal is in the best possible condition prior to making springs.
- Processing: All our springs are produced on the latest CNC spring making equipment. The springs are coiled with very specific pitch profiles to get the loads and rates that are correct for the engine. Grinding is CNC controlled for tight coil bind heights to allow for running the springs close to coil bind. The springs get a sophisticated shot-peen process, which is verified by an X-ray diffraction machine. This machine measures the atomic spacing of the metallic crystalline structure to ensure we have proper residual stresses within the springs. This is critical for spring performance and survival under extreme conditions. Some springs are nitrided and Nano-peenTM surface enhanced. This provides the ultimate in spring surface preparation for extreme RPM with aggressive camshaft profiles.
- Design: All of our spring designs are based on the data from a Spintron machine. We fine-tune the loads, rate, coil spacing, wire size and frequencies to get extremely good valve control yet still have safe springs that will not fail.
